THE POWER OF A JOB

Policies and laws, products and services, people and choices. These are the things that determine the quality of people’s lives and ultimately the society we live in. All these we influence through our different job descriptions and workplaces.  Government workplaces enact laws, the private sector produces the goods and services and the public consumes. There’s such awesome power generated from the seeming ordinary wood desks of various sizes, behind different coloured walls of the many offices around the country.

A workplace is a place of power, where power is put to work to achieve different results – some good, some bad. Your desk represents your position and puts power in your hand to create or destroy. Haman used his position to destroy. Mordecai used his to create life opportunities. What will you do with yours? At the end of the day, that’s the real bottomline - not your take-home package. A job is God giving you a portion of power to give others life opportunities. Your job is providence giving you a responsibility to keep the world stayed on the right course.

To be called by god is a privilege, to be anointed an advantage, but to be found faithful is a strict prerequisite. The prerogative to choose and anoint is solely God’s, but the choice of faithfulness is totally yours.
