Access Is A Privilege To Be Handled With Respect, Wisdom And Great Caution. Without It Be Assured That Your Work Could Become Just A Little Bit More Difficult.

Derek's job demanded that he worked in close quarters to the company CEO. But unlike others who had the same access, he considered it was only for the job's sake. He wouldn't flaunt it or take it too personal. On one occasion, he had audience with his CEO and stayed on his feet all through the discussion. After a while, the CEO said, “Do have your seat. I've noticed that you never seat till I tell you to.” “Oh well, ehm, thank you sir!” Derek replied and sat.

Access works two ways - Your boss may be friendly or even a friend. She may be easy-going and as such there is a possibility to take her for granted. She lowers her guard with you and you even get away with things that others are penalized for. Others see you as 'the favoured one'. But abusing this benefit will be quite unfortunate. It will be interpreted as disrespect.

Access by subordinates means you’ve been entrusted with a portion of a person’s space - a privilege you’re not expected to abuse. Abusing Access betrays trust and may consequently cut off your due respect.

The truth is, Access is a privilege to be handled with respect, wisdom and great caution. Without it be assured that your work could become just a little bit more difficult.
