tVB 79:2 BECOMING A BETTER CHURCH WORKER
CHURCH WORK TRAINING:
Every single day, Pastors, Church Leaders, and Church Congregations
desire particular Work Skills and Capabilities functioning in their Church's
Workforce. This need CAN be transformed
from a question and need into a daily, practical feature!
Our focus here in A Better Church Worker (WDS 3) is that aspect of
your Pastor's Vision (or Assignment) that particularly relates to Quality and
Effectiveness of Appointed leaders and other Workers, and especially how their
work operations affect your church family.
I will share from what I have seen, learnt, done and experienced in
Organizational and Workforce Development, Church Work and Leadership for at
least three decades.
I will be speaking more to Appointed Leaders, Volunteer Workers, and
paid Staff of local churches, as church work matters generally relates to them.
A calling to Teach and Train combined with my functioning on these three levels
over the years gives me a measure of authority on this Topic.
NECESSITIES FOR
EFFICIENT CHURCH WORK
1) Work Experience
2) Efficient Workforce And Work Processes
WORK EXPERIENCE
Work Experience is necessary to achieve and sustain consistent
efficiency in Church Work. In fact, in any kind of Work! Experience is
'Event(s) of which one is cognizant; Activity which one has performed;
Collection of events and/or activities from which an individual or group may
gather knowledge, opinions, and skills'.
WHY CHURCH WORK
REQUIRE 'WORK EXPERIENCE'
a) The required 'Work Experience' is necessary to retain a growing,
committed membership and sustain the attention of visitors and prospective
members.
The supernatural power of God brought in thousands at the start-up of
the Jerusalem church, but in Acts 6 the leadership and membership required
efficient persons to serve tables, not only prayers!
First, INFORMED DIRECTION OF WHAT
TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT WAS REQUIRED. The Apostles provided this direction in
Acts 6:2-4. 'Informed direction' is Work Experience. The six appointed workers
followed the Informed Directions of what needed to be done. The results were
amazing. Not only did the disatisfied brethren become happier Church members,
"…The word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied
greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the
faith." (Acts 6:7) The Jerusalem church attracted more newly committed
members into the fold!
A CHURCH IS
FUNDAMENTALLY A CHARITY-BASED ORGANIZATION!
The lack of required 'Work Experience' necessary to gain and retain
members, creates difficulties keeping the interests of visitors and new comers.
Despite many visitor-trials, the result will be constant declining visitor
interests. Eventually visitors will be
‘pushed out’ of that church assembly's outreach span! In some cases, it could even be committed members being ‘pushed out’.
The Church Work processes required to retain church membership is no
different from how a commercial venture retains its customers. What they call ‘Loyal Customers’, you call
‘Church Members Who Give’! What keeps Customers return again and again is
also required to keep church members returning again and again. Pray, but never
ignore the place of correct Church Workforce operations. That's what Prayer
should empower so that every aspect of the divine assignment will be well done
and successfully completed.
SALVATION &
WORKFORCE OPERATIONS
Eternal salvation could never have come to mankind without correct workforce
operations of those whom were divinely involved! On the workforce were Mary,
Joseph, John the Baptist, his parents Zechariah and Elizabeth, the Disciples,
and The Lord Jesus. Angels were also involved in delivering messages, right
from informing Mary (Luke 1:26-38), to directing the three wise men (Matthew
2:1-12), up until the day Jesus Christ ascended in Acts 1:9-11. Very many
others, although not mentioned, were also involved.
b) Where a Church assembly that lacks the required 'Work Experience' gets
considerate attention and opportunities from interested visitors and
prospective new members, it will still be kept on a customer-defined low-income
level! Truth is, income comes in from
people who are happy with the results they see in their own lives based on
your church work!
Consider this:
For feeding, what do you regularly spend your monthly salary on?
Why do you avoid one brand but spend much more on another more expensive
brand? It's probably offering you a better personal-benefit or greater satisfaction!
Truth is, it is only your life-improving services that attract and retain
people in your church as members, not expensive facilities!
2. EFFICIENT WORKFORCE AND WORK PROCESSES
These are vital factors for Church Work where 'Work Experience' is concerned!
You must have and practice Efficient Workforce and Work Processes in order to
attract and retain continued Volunteer Patronage from a sustained and growing
Congregation (they are your customer-base!).
In the business world, manufacturers grapple with holding down customers
who move to other brands of their product just for personal satisfaction.
Church visitors and members are 'church customers' who desire and seek
supernatural and economy-based empowerment as well. To help them meet their needs,
your local church requires and must have, at least, basic work efficiency
enough to deliver support services that keep your customer-base, or
congregation, excited and satisfied enough to share their church experiences
with other seekers who desire similar satisfaction.
