I once saw a cartoon of a guy sitting behind a file-laden desk, legs stretched across the office desk, hands folded over his chest and a wide grin, saying, "I just love work. I could sit all day starring at it". While that may be funny, my addition to that copy would be, "Then ...forget about ever getting promotion from that job!"
Many expect, and even demand, professional advancement as a reward for [merely] being  employed! Strange ...but very common! That's like expecting an unplanted Seed to produce a bumper harvest! If promotion at work is your expected harvest, then deliver top quality work daily and consistently. Regardless of who's seeing or watching you, realize that top quality work is the necessary seed you must plant and tend conscientiously!
Many centuries ago, it was said, "Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof." (King Solomon, Proverbs 27:18)

To be called by god is a privilege, to be anointed an advantage, but to be found faithful is a strict prerequisite. The prerogative to choose and anoint is solely God’s, but the choice of faithfulness is totally yours.
